Real Madrid have reportedly told Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba they are not interested in signing him in the January transfer wndow.
It will come as a blow to Pogba , who agitated for a move away from United last summer and spoke of how it would be “a dream” to play for Madrid.
Pogba was linked with a move to Real throughout last summer, but United saw off interest in the World Cup winner from the La Liga giants.
Now it looks like Pogba may have missed out on his dream – for January at least – due to the emergence of Real midfielder Federico Valverde.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has been in contact with Madrid to try and make the transfer happen, according to Marca . But the Spanish outlet says the answer Raiola has been given is that the Spanish club are not interested in signing Pogba in January – and the agent has told this to Pogba.
The report says Real boss Zinedine Zidane is still an admirer of Pogba. But with 21-year-old Valverde impressing and the club’s other midfielders upping their game, there is no need for Madrid to consider a swoop for Pogba.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to insist that Pogba is still in his plans, with the midfielder having travelled with the squad for Sunday’s game against Watford .
If the 26-year-old plays it will be the first time in three months, after the midfielder’s absence due to an ankle injury was extended by a bout of illness.
United’s £89million record signing has 18 months left on his contract, and the Red Devils will want at least £85m for him if they do sell – whether that is next month or in the summer.
