Mourinho heads into Carrington early as Man Utd boss plots win over Chelsea

Jose Mourinho arrived early at Manchester United’s training ground on Tuesday as he looked to plot a win over former employers Chelsea.

The Portuguese tactician was driven into his club’s complex by a chauffeur ahead of preparing his players for the visit to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho will be hoping his underperforming side can follow up their win over Newcastle by pulling off what would be a surprise result in west London.

United’s comeback win over Newcastle ensured Mourinho remained in his role as Red Devils boss.

Mourinho reportedly held talks with Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward this week after intense speculation regarding his future.

The 55-year-old remains under intense pressure at United following a poor start to the Premier League season and public fall-outs with key players.

According to The Sun, Mourinho was due to meet with Woodward in London for talks over his job before meeting with the United board meeting later in the week.

It is reported Mourinho is convinced the club are already planning for his succession – and if Woodward can assure him this is not the case, he will use the meeting to demand money for transfer spending in January.

Mourinho is unhappy as he does not feel Woodward sufficiently backed him in the summer, and is especially keen on signing a new centre back.

United’s transfer bill is likely to grow even larger if Mourinho stays, and not just because the boss wants new players.
