Manchester United won’t step up their interest in Bruno Fernandes until Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s move to Old Trafford is complete, according to Daily Telegraph reporter James Ducker.
The Portugal international has been linked with a host of top European clubs this summer as his agent clearly looks to secure a move for the attacking midfielder away from his current club Sporting Lisbon.
Manchester United and Tottenham appear to be heading up Premier League interest in the Portuguese playmaker following his impressive season for Sporting.
Bruno Fernandes scored 20 goals and made 13 assists in 33 games in Liga NOS for Sporting and the 24-year-old netted three times and made one assist in the Europa League.
Tottenham have also been linked with Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, while Manchester United are thought to be interested in Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff.
Now, Daily Telegraph reporter Ducker has provided an update on both Manchester United and Tottenham as the Premier League duo look to improve their midfield options ahead of the new season.
Ducker wrote on Twitter:
“Bit of Bruno Fernandes detail. His agent, Miguel Pinho, met with #THFC y’ day. Fernandes & Lo Celso Spurs’ midfield targets. #MUFC, who met Pinho 2 months ago, asked him in the past fortnight for some more time as they focus first on signing an RB (Wan-Bissaka).”
“Whether #thfc talks prompt #mufc to make a final decision on Fernandes or they’re confident he’d choose them first remains to be seen. Sean Longstaff also a target but #nufc yet to receive an approach. There’d been no fee agreed for Wan-Bissaka as of last night but talks ongoing.”
Spurs finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term before the north London side suffered a 2-0 loss to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final in Madrid.
