Manchester United only value Maguire at around £40m, which is significantly short of Leicester’s asking price

Manchester United and Leicester City are £40m apart in their valuation of England defender Harry Maguire, according to a report in England.

ESPNis reporting that the Red Devils aren’t close to Leicester’s £80m valuation of the powerful center-half as Manchester United look to improve their defense this summer.

The same article states that the 20-time English champions only value Maguire at around £40m, which is significantly short of Leicester’s asking price for the center-half.

According to the same story, Manchester United could face competition from Manchester City for the former Hull City defender in the current transfer window.

ESPN goes on to state that Manchester United have already discarded plans to sign Ajax center-half Matthijs de Ligt due to the 19-year-old’s lavish price tag.

Manchester United conceded 54 times in 38 games in the Premier League last term to highlight their problems at the back.

Eric Bailly has struggled for fitness and form, while Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, and Chris Smalling have all suffered from injury problems over the past 12 months.
