Manchester United are targeting Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber to be their next director of football.
Ex-United players Darren Fletcher and Rio Ferdinand are also being lined-up as part of the backroom staff.
It is understood that the Red Devils are looking at building a committee of ex-players to help recruit players and Webber is seen as someone who could oversee that strategy.
Webber has huge admirers at Old Trafford according to the Sun after helping steer Huddersfield and Norwich to Premier League promotion.
United are looking for a new director of football to work with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
Webber helped the likes of Angus Gunn and James Maddison being given an opportunity.
It is hoped that this new structure will help United avoid expensive mistakes in the transfer market.
The Red Devils have not won the league since Sir Alex Ferguson left at the end of the 2012-13 season.
