Manchester United are interested in Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff.
The 21-year old midfielder has two years left on his contract and was on the brink of a call up to England’s under-21 squad prior to injuring knee ligaments.
United want a holding midfielder to replace Ander Herrera and have held initial discussions for Longstaff.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to rebuild his squad with young, home-grown talent and Longstaff tops his list.
Having previously spent time on loan at Kilmarnock and Blackpool, Longstaff made his first-team breakthrough this season at St James’ Park after injuries to other midfielders.
He made eight appearances and scored one goal before having his season ended by injury.
