Ex-Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend and former Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves have predicted that Nigerian midfielder Philip Billing will bid farewell to Huddersfield Town at the end of the 2018-19 season if they get relegated from the Premier League.
Billing, who was named The Terriers Player of the Month for September, was impressive in Monday night’s hard fought 1-0 win against Fulham and came close to scoring his second of the season but smashed the bar with an incredible long-range strike in the 15th minute.
Reviewing the game, BT Sport pundits Townsend and Hargreaves agreed that the defensive midfielder will be the subject of interest from topflight clubs as he has had a descent season.
”Good player Phil Billing, he is the sort of player that if the worst happens to Huddersfield, someone might come and have a look at,” Townsend stated.
Hargreaves added : ”Definitely, he is a really elegant classy player with big physical presence, descent in possession, he’s definitely got something.
I think he’s going for it.
” The 22-year-old Billing was yellow carded in the closing minutes against Fulham – his fifth caution this season – and it means he will not be available for selection in Huddersfield Town’s next game vs West Ham.
