Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United squad have arrived at Carrington to put the final touches to their preparations ahead of their clash with Chelsea.
The likes of David de Gea, Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw, who signed a five-year contract extension on Thursday, rocked up for training on the eve of the crunch Premier League clash.
Mourinho will ensure his players are in the best shape possible as he looks to get one over his former club Chelsea on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho returns to Chelsea for the fourth time as United manager but has seen his side lose every time, twice in the Premier League and once in the FA Cup.
The under-fire manager will be desperate for victory against second-placed Chelsea following a very disappointing start to the season.
United sit a lowly eighth after as many games – having already lost three times to Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham.
And the Old Trafford outfit have come under heavy criticism since the start of the 2018-19 campaign, with Paul Pogba yet again receiving plenty of the blame.
But speaking ahead of the crunch top flight fixture, the French World Cup winner can’t wait for Saturday to come around.
Pogba told Sky Sports: ‘For me (the big games) are the best games to play. You play against the best players, play against a big club, we always have a big rivalry with Chelsea.
‘You play football to play those big games with a lot of pressure. That’s what you want to play.’
The midfielder – who has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona – is well aware of the threat that Chelsea pose, especially through star man Eden Hazard.
He said: ‘We can see that this season they’re having a lot of possession, they’re winning.
‘One character you cannot miss is Eden Hazard. He’s on fire. He’s probably the best player in the Premier League right now.
‘Everything is going well for them, they have good results.’
